Express Entry
Express Entry is a federal immigration platform that covers three different immigration programs that select from a pool of qualified professionals who wish to settle down permanently in Canada.
It is based on an online scoring system that manages applications for permanent residency, focusing on skilled workers according to their skills and ability to contribute to Canada’s economy.
To determine your eligibility and to enter the Express Entry candidate pool, you must meet the prerequisites for at least one of the three immigration programs, specifically.
The programs:
– Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) – The main economic immigration program in the country, focusing on candidates with qualified work experience outside of Canada.
The main candidate will be evaluated according to some eligibility criteria, such as age, education, professional experience, proficiency in English and / or French and adaptability in order to obtain at least 67 points out of a 100 point grid.
– Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – This category focuses on candidates with qualified work experience in Canada.
To be eligible for the program, you must have worked for at least one year full-time in the country.
– Federal Skilled Trade (FST) – This category aims to select candidates for permanent residency from sectors of construction, machine operators, agriculture, industry, chefs, cooks and food processors.
Provincial Nominee Programs
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was designed for provinces and territories to support the immigration of qualified candidates, who wish to contribute to local economic development.
Each Canadian province and territory develops its own immigration programs in order to attract people who are interested in permanently residing in their territory.
There are 11 different destinations:
Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfounland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and the Yukon.
These programs are created with a focus on local needs and seek to attract candidates who are students, investors or workers. When appointed by a province or territory, they will be able to apply for permanent residence.
Family Sponsorship
You don’t have to come here alone. Your family will also be able to live in Canada.
Applications for permanent residency happen through the Family Sponsorship program in which
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can apply for permanent residence for their spouses or partners, children, parents, grandparents, and other family members.
To be eligible to apply, you must be at least 18 years old.
Caregivers
The Caregiver program is aimed at professionals who have professional experience as caregivers for the elderly, children or people with special needs.
Through this program, it is possible to apply for a work visa or permanent residence in Canada.
Similarly to other programs, there are some prerequisites to be considered eligible.
Business Immigration
Self-employed
The self-employed program is aimed at self-employed professionals who have relevant professional experience in cultural or sports activities and aim to contribute significantly to the cultural and sports market in Canada.
Visa Start-up
By creating a company, creating jobs or supporting entrepreneurs who aim to innovate in the Canadian economy, applying for permanent residence is possible through the Start-up Visa.

You’ll benefit from living in a multicultural society, and investing in your professional development, all while perfecting your English and French for your everyday life.
Studying in Canada is an investment in your future.
In many cases, working in Canada requires a legal work permit.
There are several ways to get a work permit, and it’s worth it since in certain scenarios, the chances of getting a permanent residency are much higher if you have Canadian work experience.
International Experience Canada (IEC)
People of different nationalities and age groups can become candidates in the IEC pool and, if invited, apply for a Canadian work permit.
To participate, however, your country of origin must have an agreement with Canada allowing you to apply for this work permit.
Open Work Permit
To apply for a permit that allows you to work for several Canadian employers, you may, for example, fall into one of the following categories:
– If you are an international student that graduated in Canada from certain courses and from certain educational institutions;
– In specific cases, you have already applied for permanent residence;
– You are the spouse or partner of a qualified professional who is allowed to work in Canada;
– You are a spouse or partner of an international student who has a study permit.
Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
The LMIA is a process that allows the Canadian employer to hire a foreigner to work in the country with a legal work permit.
The LMIA confirms the need to hire a foreigner to fill a specific position.
In some cases, issuing a work permit will waive the LMIA, such as in international, provincial and national interest agreements.
If you want to experience this diverse, multicultural country with its abundant natural beauty, discover the two possibilities available for permission to enter the country as a tourist:
Visitor Visa
A visitor’s visa will allow you to stay in Canada for, as a rule, up to 6 months. During this period, it is possible to take certain short courses.
However, working with a visitor visa is not allowed.
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
If you have a valid American visa or have obtained a Canadian visa in the last 10 years and intend to enter the country by air, you can apply for an eTA.
ETA is generally valid for 5 years and allows multiple entry to Canada.
